Many people have weak passwords and do very little to protect them. Some use the word password as their password. Some stick them to their monitors or even tell friends.
Google engineer HongHai Shen has written a blog post about password security in which he gave tips for selecting passwords and things to avoid.
Here are some of his tips:
Don’t use words you would find in a dictionary in order to avoid “dictionary attacks.”
Don’t share your passwords with anyone.
Make your password as unique as possible.
Create different passwords for different sites.
He gives details on these tips and has other tips in his blog post. Here is a link to that informative blog post Official Google Blog: Does your password pass the test?
